You know damn well I was joking..” the reality star wrote. Erika Jayne claims she was joking about friends PK and Dorit Kemsley’s potential split. Alyssa Farah Griffin Clashes With Sunny Hostin After She Compares Women Voting Republican to “Roaches Voting for Raid” on ‘The View’

Image
Alyssa Farah Griffin got into a heated exchange with Sunny Hostin while speaking of women who vote Republican on today’s episode of  The View.  The former White House staffer, who is the only conservative voice at the table, was quick to shut Hostin down after she compared Republican women to “roaches voting for raid.” As the midterms approach, the panel gave their thoughts on what issues people are voting on. Hostin admitted that she is surprised about the abortion issue, saying, “I read a poll just yesterday that white, Republican, suburban women, are now going to vote Republican. It’s almost like roaches voting for raid.” The moment Griffin heard her co-host’s comparison, she jumped in. However, Hostin continued to talk over her as she said, “It’s like they’re voting against their own self-interest. Do they want to live in Gilead? Do they want to be in The Handmaid’s Tale ?” When a moment freed up, Griffin fired back, “Do we love democracy or not? Because just saying ...

Clyde Shavers' father accuses him of lying about military record

Image
A Democratic candidate for the state House in Washington is involved in an ongoing feud with his family about the veracity of his military service. The father of Clyde Shavers, Democratic candidate for Washington state’s 10th Legislative District, claims in a recently published letter that his son lied about the details of his service in the U.S. Navy, according to  local outlet Herald Net . Clyde Shavers has run on a platform emphasizing his service in the U.S. Navy, claiming to have been installed as a nuclear submarine officer — a position which requires a great amount of training and three separate courses. “Clyde was never a submarine officer, not even for a day,” Brett Shavers wrote. Brett Shavers, a former Marine, went on to dismiss any notions that his son served proudly in the military, going so far as to say Clyde Shavers has a “disdain” for enlisted se...

Rep. Mondaire Jones has stopped helping constituents

Image
A Democratic member of Congress who was shown the door by voters is checking out early. Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-Westchester) announced his office won’t be taking on new constituent cases for November and December — a full two months before he leaves office. “At this time, we are not accepting any new casework requests. For new or urgent casework requests, please reach out to your U.S. Senate offices,” reads a note added to Jones’ official House website in mid-October. Jones, a junior “Squad” member, will leave the House on Jan. 3 after just a single term. Constituent cases can run the gamut from immigration services to securing federal benefits to help applying to a military academy. Providing constituent services is a core responsibility for members of Congress and they employ multiple staffers whose jobs are explicitly dedicated to it. Workers sit in Jones’ dismantled district office. Helayne Seidman Jones came up short in an August p...

Chrissy Teigen's son Miles, 4, bored by dad John Legend on TV

Image
Chrissy Teigen’s son, Miles, appeared hilariously disinterested in his dad John Legend’s latest TV appearance. “Mommy, can I do my iPad?” the 4-year-old said in a video the cookbook author, 36, shared on Instagram on Friday of them watching Legend’s appearance on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” together. Miles could not contain his boredom as he placed his hands on the side of his head and stared at the TV screen. Meanwhile, Teigen could be heard snickering after her son suggested playing a game rather than having to watch another second of his dad. Legend, 43, was asked to appear on the MSNBC news show for a segment titled, “One-on-One with John Legend.” Miles could not even bring himself to feign interest in his dad's MSNBC interview. Alyssa Farah Griffin Dismayed by Prospect of Trump 2024 on ‘The View’: “We Do Not Need to Do this Exercise Again”

Image
Alyssa Farah Griffin is not excited about her former boss’s return to the campaign trail. On this morning’s episode of  The View,  the conservative co-host couldn’t hide her exasperation about former president Donald Trump‘s rumored 2024 White House run. Trump recently told his supporters to “stay tuned” while he was stumping for Marco Rubio in Florida, and teased an upcoming announcement tonight. Although he stepped up for Rubio and fellow republican senate candidate Dr. Oz, he didn’t show the same love for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, blasting him as “Ron DeSanctimonious.” Griffin, who worked in the Trump White House before stepping down in 2020, said she was “here for the drama between Trump and DeSantis,” before offering a more serious take to the Hot Topics panel. “I will say this: DeSantis doesn’t stand a chance once Trump’s in. I expect Trump is gonna announce on the 14th,” Griffin said of Trump’s presidential plans. “He may announce sooner than that, but he’s runni...

Who’s up and who’s down – Winestle News

[ad_1] Press play to listen to this article Voiced by artificial intelligence. KYIV — Russia’s war against Ukraine has created some unexpected victims: the country’s oligarchs. Ukraine has long been  considered  one of the most corrupt countries on Earth and the couple of dozen businessmen who controlled a vast proportion of its wealth, as well as TV stations, mines, banks, shops, farms, real estate and more are seen as key contributors. One of their number — chocolate baron Petro Poroshenko — even served as president from 2014 to 2019. But Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has played havoc with their fortunes. The vast metalworks in Mariupol owned by Rinat Akhmetov have been turned into smoking ruins, farmland stands idle and is pocked with landmines, factories aren’t working because of power cuts and seaborne exports have shriveled. The political influence of the super-rich has also taken a t...

Erdoğan plots war, crackdown to save his skin – Winestle News

Image
[ad_1] Press play to listen to this article Voiced by artificial intelligence. Paul Taylor is a contributing editor at Winestle News. PARIS — Having crashed the Turkish economy and impoverished the middle class that he himself had enriched, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is now dragging his country toward an unnecessary war and manipulating the courts against his rivals. It’s a ruthless drive by Erdoğan to cling to power in 2023 — the centenary of the Turkish Republic — and let’s hope he fails. Turkey’s presidential election, set to be held on June 23, is arguably the most important — though by no means the fairest — vote in the world this year. It will determine whether this nation of 85 million citizens, on the hinge of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, will keep hurtling down the road toward being an authoritarian, expansionist power, or whether it chooses a more liberal, pluralistic p...

How Russia is weaponizing passports – Winestle News

Image
[ad_1] Press play to listen to this article Voiced by artificial intelligence. KYIV — Imagine being Ukrainian and yet possessing only a Russian passport. And then being drafted into a war to fight your native country. This is a reality currently facing thousands of Ukrainians. And some say it constitutes a war crime. After Russia invaded Ukraine this past February, European countries welcomed Ukrainians seeking refuge. But when Russia announced its partial mobilization in September, thousands fled the draft. Countries that initially welcomed refugees hesitated or closed their borders to Russian citizens, sparking a debate in the EU about how — and if — countries should grant or withhold asylum for Russians fleeing mobilization. But refugees from the draft don’t only come from Russia — many are from Russian-occupied territories. In swathes of Ukrainian territory it occupies, Russia has been...

Brussels restaurants fight for survival — again – Winestle News

Image
[ad_1] Press play to listen to this article Voiced by artificial intelligence. Europe’s crippling energy crisis is hammering Brussels’ lively restaurant scene, forcing owners to come up with creative solutions to stay afloat and press the government to fork out financial support. A group of Brussels restaurants launched the initiative “Brussels in the Dark,” where they served meals without using energy to draw government and public attention to skyrocketing prices, which are causing turmoil for small businesses. Others have tweaked menus and cut back on staff, as they battle to survive an energy crisis sparked by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine — right after the industry was battered by more than a year of stringent COVID lockdowns. “Every day I am paying the debt of the corona crisis and now I have to deal with the energy crisis,” said co-founder of Brussels in the Dark...
