Donald Trump files another lawsuit against NY AG Letitia James

Image
Former President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James in Florida on Wednesday, accusing her of abusing her position to wage a “war of intimidation and harassment” against him. The 41-page lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County, where Trump lives, accuses James of breaking the law in Florida and New York in her investigation into the former president’s business dealings, which he claims was politically motivated ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. “What began as a cartoonish, thinly-veiled effort to publicly malign President Trump for personal political gain has morphed into a plot to obtain control of a global private enterprise ultimately owned by a Florida revocable trust in which President Trump is the settlor,” Trump’s attorneys wrote in Wednesday’s lawsuit . James sued Trump, his kids Eric, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., and the Trump Organization for $250 million in September, alleging “staggering” fraud ...

Dolphins' Xavien Howard files motion to dismiss STD lawsuit

Image
Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard filed a motion on Friday to dismiss a complaint by an unnamed woman alleging that he knowingly and negligently gave her a sexually transmitted disease. Through his attorney, Alan Mensa-Wilmot, Howard called it “the epitome of a shakedown,” according to ESPN , which reported that Howard’s motion was filed two days after the plaintiff filed their complaint against him in Broward County on Oct. 26. The plaintiff alleges Howard knowingly gave her an STD during the course of a multi-year sexual relationship. The woman is demanding a trial by jury and is suing Howard for damages in excess of $30,000, according to the lawsuit. Howard’s motion reportedly includes a number of screenshots showing alleged text messages from the plaintiff, listed as Jane Doe, which “make it abundantly clear that Plaintiff is nothing more than a scorned ex-lover” seeking a financial gain. In the motion, Howard alleges that the plai...

Italian family sues elite NY boarding school where son killed himself in 'solitary confinement'

Image
An Italian family sued an elite Westchester County boarding school where their 17-year-old son killed himself, accusing officials of keeping the teen in “solitary confinement” after he was expelled for cheating on an assignment. Exchange student Claudio Mandia was found dead in a room at EF Academy in Thornwood in February, having hung himself on the eve of his 18th birthday. The teen had just been expelled for cheating on a math assignment, and was forced by school officials to stay in a room alone, according to the lawsuit filed in Westchester County Supreme Court on Friday by his father, Mauro Mandia, and another representative of the boy’s estate. The suit accuses school officials of contributing to Claudio’s death by putting him in solitary confinement while he was emotionally vulnerable, despite knowing that Claudio had been dealing with personal issues that had impacted his school performance. Claudio Mandia hanged himself in a room a...

Raw sewage turned this Park Slope home into a poopy mess: lawsuit

Image
A Brooklyn homeowner claims the city left his pricey Park Slope pad a stinky mess when sewer construction went awry, sending human waste flooding into his basement, according to a lawsuit. Mark Roth, 45, says the crappy situation began the morning of Sept. 1, 2021, when the work in front of his $3.2 million 4th Street home somehow sent the sewage back into his drains. “As the day progressed, the problem got worse,” his lawyer, Thomas Tyrrell, said. That night, Hurricane Ida hit, and the software engineer’s basement ended up with 24 to 36 inches of foul fluid, Tyrell added. He spent more than $25,000 and a month renovating the basement of the 3,200-square-foot home, which includes four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Roth is suing the city and contractor ADC Construction for unspecified damages. https://www.tausiinsider.com/raw-sewage-turned-this-park-slope-home-into-a-poopy-mess-lawsuit/?feed_id=410378&_unique_id=6496c6a740082
