Erika Jayne is backtracking on her comments about Dorit and Paul “PK” Kemsley’s marriage. After PK shaded Jayne on Instagram for claiming his marriage was on the rocks, the “Pretty Mess” singer commented on his post claiming it was all in good fun. “When did you get so sensitive? It's too late for old guard Democrats to stop the red wave

What are Democrats doing to avoid getting drowned by a “red wave” next Tuesday?  They’re rolling out the oldies. Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama are back on the campaign trail.  But the nostalgia tour is only serving to remind voters how far the Democratic Party has fallen.  Bill Clinton didn’t even try to disguise the ugly truth at a stop in Hurleyville, NY, for congressional hopeful Josh Riley.  “Here’s the truth. We do have too much inflation, and we do have too much crime,” the ex-president conceded.  “But all this tough talk doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, that the Republicans are making,” he continued in a syntactical tangle perhaps born of embarrassment.  The trouble for Democrats is voters aren’t thinking about beans, they’re thinking about the Democratic Party’s record in office as crime soars and prices at the supermarket shoot to the ceiling.  Voters have little hope and want change. Former President Donald Trump came close to announcing a 2024 White House bid at a Thursday night rally in Iowa - which holds the nation's first presidential contest - and on the anniversary of his 2020 election loss.  'And now in order to make our country successful and safe and glorious - I will very, very, very probably do it again,' he said. 'OK? Very, very, very probably. Very, very, very probably.'  He told the riled up Sioux City crowd to 'get ready!' 'That's all I'm telling you, very soon,' he added. Democrats’ generic ballot lead for midterm elections shrinks: poll

A new poll finds that Democrats’ lead over Republicans in a generic congressional ballot has dropped threefold since August in yet another sign of the GOP’s momentum advantage with less than a week to go until Election Day.  The Yahoo News/YouGov survey has captured the downward spiral of the Democratic Party since August, when Democrats led by 6 points in the generic congressional ballot. In late September, the same poll saw Democrats’ lead slip to 4 points. And now in the final Yahoo News/YouGov poll before the Nov. 8 midterm elections, the Democrats’ lead is down to 2 points.  The survey released on Thursday found that among 1,641 registered voters, 46% say they will vote Democrat and 44% say they will vote Republican. It’s effectively a tie, as the poll’s margin for error is 2.7 percentage points.  Among those who have already voted or say they will “definitely vote” on Election Day, 49% said they would vote for a Democrat, and 47% said Rep...

How you can tell which polls to trust — and why we need to fix our broken system

The 2022 elections have seen us buried under hundreds of polls at the same time more and more of us are skeptical of them. Why is it that many polls seem to be getting things wrong more than before and how can we sort out the wheat from the chaff? Always take into account the all-important “margin of error,” which can sometimes range above 4%. Don’t put too much trust in any poll that surveys only a few hundred voters. And a poll of likely voters is better than one of “registered voters.” Even sampling registered voters who say they will vote in this midterm election but didn’t vote in the high-turnout 2020 presidential race is talking to people who are unlikely to actually vote this time. Recognize that polls are now harder to take. Nate Cohn, the chief political analyst at Tausi Insider, admitted last month that only 0.4% of attempted phone calls for the latest Times/Siena College poll yielded a completed interview. Upstate Dems holding slight lead ahead of election day: polls

Two Democrats in battleground upstate Congressional districts held small but notable leads over their Republican rivals ahead of election day, according to a pair of new polls. Josh Riley, an attorney from Endicott, was leading his GOP rival , Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro 48% to 43% in the sprawling 19th district, which stretches across Columbia, Greene, Delaware Broome, Tioga counties, according to a Spectrum News 1/Siena College survey published Friday. Though the numbers were within the poll’s margin of error, Riley’s lead widened with independent voters, where he bested Molinaro 48% to 36%.
