Yankees were just start of Cristian Javier's run of domination

Image
PHILADELPHIA — The Yankees can take solace. It wasn’t just them. Cristian Javier does not discriminate. At some point in 2022, he basically stopped giving up hits, and it wasn’t just against Aaron Judge and Co. Javier has a fastball that hardly awes with its velocity. But it is illustrious because it is an illusion. He slings it from a low three-quarters arm slot with lots of backspin, giving the optical illusion that it is rising simply because it is not descending as other fastballs do. The Phillies actually had been strong against fastballs up in the zone this season. Not this version. You can’t hit what you can’t see. And the Phillies of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber were as helpless as the Yankees of Judge and Anthony Rizzo. The Phillies, in fact, went from in control of this World Series and supported by a joyous home crowd to being on the wrong end of history and being booed. During Game 4. Of the World Series. Th...

Aaron Boone, Brian Cashman understand Aaron Judge’s Yankees importance

Image
Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman know what the most important part of this Yankees’ offseason is. Boone, the Yankees manager, expressed his appreciation toward Judge and how their relationship has grown over both of their tenures in New York. “All I’ll say is, I hope he’s back and a Yankee forever,” Boone said. “I can’t think of a better guy that you want to be leading your team and your organization.” Judge broke the American League record with 62 home runs and was in contention for the Triple Crown in a season in which he often carried the Yankees. He is seemingly headed to MLB free agency after turning down a seven-year, $213.5 million dollar deal offered to him before the season began. As Cashman noted, Judge bet on himself and is in line for a massive payday — The Post’s Jon Heyman predicted he could be staring at a deal worth $330 million over nine years. Cashman, currently in limbo as he awaits a new contract to continue his run as Y...

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. declares he'd 'never' join Yankees

Image
It seems that some prefer to play the villain. Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is slated to become a free agent after the 2025 season, and while it remains to be seen if he will stay in Toronto, it is apparent he won’t be wearing the Yankees pinstripes anytime soon. During a recent interview with Vincent Carmona Arias, Guerrero Jr. said he would never sign with the club. “I like to play in New York. I like to kill the Yankees. I would never sign with the Yankees, not even [when I’m] dead,” Guerrero said. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. said he’d ‘never’ sign with the Yankees. Getty Images Guerrero Jr. has indeed been a Yankee-killer at the plate. The 23-year-old has a career .289 batting average with 13 homers and 41 RBI against the Yankees. Additionally, he’s bashed 10 home runs in 31 overall games at Yankee Stadium. On the whole, Guerrero Jr. enjoyed a successful 2022. He cracked 32 home runs this season and also won a Gold Glove at first base. It...
