Alyssa Farah Griffin Dismayed by Prospect of Trump 2024 on ‘The View’: “We Do Not Need to Do this Exercise Again”

Alyssa Farah Griffin is not excited about her former boss’s return to the campaign trail. On this morning’s episode of The View, the conservative co-host couldn’t hide her exasperation about former president Donald Trump‘s rumored 2024 White House run.

Trump recently told his supporters to “stay tuned” while he was stumping for Marco Rubio in Florida, and teased an upcoming announcement tonight. Although he stepped up for Rubio and fellow republican senate candidate Dr. Oz, he didn’t show the same love for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, blasting him as “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

Griffin, who worked in the Trump White House before stepping down in 2020, said she was “here for the drama between Trump and DeSantis,” before offering a more serious take to the Hot Topics panel.

“I will say this: DeSantis doesn’t stand a chance once Trump’s in. I expect Trump is gonna announce on the 14th,” Griffin said of Trump’s presidential plans. “He may announce sooner than that, but he’s running. For whatever reason, my party is doing this exercise again.

“But what’s going to be interesting is, it’s very likely we may be in a Georgia Senate runoff at that time that will go into December if [Raphael] Warnock and Herschel Walker are close enough. And he’s gonna announce smack-dab in the middle of it, which is the worst thing for Walker. That actually favors your parties,” she said, gesturing to the liberal-leaning View panel.

Griffin continued, “Donald Trump doesn’t care about the party. He does not want to care about helping republicans. He only cares about himself. He’s going after DeSantis because DeSantis is the rockstar in the GOP right now. He’s threatened by it, he can’t have any attention beyond anyone but himself.”

While the conservative co-host said she thinks “the midterms are somewhat cooked at this point,” she still encouraged everyone to vote, before adding, “2024, we do not need to do this exercise again.”

She then dished out advice to presidential hopefuls in her party, telling them, “If you are a republican thinking about running, take on Trump. The only way you beat him is actually challenging him. You’re not gonna win by doing the light, like, being too afraid to criticize him kind of thing.”

Although Griffin makes running against Trump sound pretty brutal, she’s staying optimistic that there’s a worthy opponent out there somewhere — or even a few.

“I hope some folks run against him,” she said.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Hear Griffin’s comments in full in the video above.
